Essay 3: Silent Voices

You have just read Elie Wiesel’s Night, where we learned how the Jews’ voices were silenced. For this project, you will research other voices that are currently being silenced in the world.

In your 3-5 page paper, you will address  4 topics:

1) whose voice they are and how they are being silenced

2) what (if anything) is being done to help

3) how it relates to Night

4) what could be done to solve the problem.

You will use at least 5 sources and have multiple (more than 10) citations throughout your perfectly formatted MLA paper (at least one from each source). I am not giving you specific guidelines in what types as your research may lead you into multiple areas. Though, you are expected to use a variety of areas of research (Internet, books, periodicals, magazines, interviews, etc.) and to make smart choices for credible sources (ask if you are unsure).

Finally, beautiful grammatically correct writing is expected. Develop strong arguments and blend your sources and citations well. Consider this your last chance to show your best writing.

Essay 3:
This was the rubric for the Silent Voices essay we had to write this year.  When I started this project, I did not think there was and more problems like back during the holocaust. Little did I know there was in many parts of the world. I researched North Korea and i found it very hard to get information. Any article I found had little to no information needed to write a good paper. To over come this challenge I had to really mess around in the library databases to find good information I needed. Once i found my information everything was clear. This showed me that not only does silencing occur in the world today but it occurs in many different areas. This project was a lot of work and is probably my least favorite paper we did all year.

#4 Take Five's

Take five: 8/26/16

1.School yesterday was pretty tough having to wake up at 6 am

2. Yesterday I only got lost once.

3. I got to meet all my teachers and talk to my friends.

4. Lunch was new because of all the grades combined, but I still sat with my friends.

5. At the end of the day my sister met me by the gym and then she drove me home.

Take five: 4/26/17

Living in a war torn area has a major influence on beliefs and emotions. Malala, when the schools were being bombed got fueled by this because she believes in education. Elie, when he was in the camps he realized to care and help people while also trying to survive. Ann-Frank used her diary to express her emotions while hiding. War torn areas have a influence on people in many differenty ways .

My take 5's were all over the place this year. When I completed my first one I had no idea I was doing anything wrong. Then my teacher told me not to write one sentence at a time and put it into a paragraph. Once I did that I feel like my take 5's got better and better. The only challenging part of the take 5 was sometimes the topic was very tricky to write about. When I got stuck with a tricky topic, I attempted to complete the take 5 the best I could. My take 5's may not be the greatest but in the end they taught me how to be a better writer.
